Bronx 250th Tapestries on Display at Edgehill

Come check out the newly sewn beautiful Bronx 250th Tapestries at Edgehill on Sunday August 2nd and 9th between 1:00 and 4:00 PM.

In 1976, local women formed “quilting bees” to sew quilts in honor of the 200th anniversary of American Independence. 50 years later, in 2026, a different group of Bronx residents worked together to produce two quilts depicting significant places, people, and stories from our communities.

The project was led by teaching artist Tijay Mohammed in collaboration with the Kingsbridge Historical Society and Riverdale Senior Services. The quilt design work was performed by Bronxites at Lehman College, JASA, the Kingsbridge Historical Society, and Riverdale Senior Services.
