Greetings all! The team cataloguing photos in the KHS collection needs your help! The attached photo is of an unidentified residence from the early 1900s. The notes on the photo indicate that it was contributed to KHS by Vincent McCaffery in August 1958. The photographer is indicated as “M. Misell”. Internet searches have not yielded any useful information on either of these people.

Please provide any helpful information in the comments and thanks in advance!

Just curious …. post what is on the back if there is some handwriting or print.

At least it looks like a house along a ridge with the Hudson in the background, however, not well kept up.

I wonder if Vincent may have been related to Francis McCaffrey (1917-1989). Among other responsibilities, Francis evidently served as the Commissioner of Records for the Bronx Surrogate’s Court “until” 1961.

There was a NYC photographer named Mortimer Misell (1883-1943) in that time period. Haven’t found much on him though.
