When we fled to Irvington, NY in ’76 from South end of Kingsbridge Terrace (Yeah, I get it, but our house, built in 1905, was on lot something on Map of Lots at Kingsbridge…so, it wasn’t Fordham and I had never heard of Kingsbridge Heights) my new history teacher, Mr Boyd, who was about 60, talked about the soda and scissor/knife trucks when he was growing up, and that his mother came from Ireland by boat, and mentioned the only doctor he saw was Dr German name here on Bailey Avenue, and asked if anyone knew someone who came by boat and I raised my hand and said half the parents of kids in my class including mine and those trucks are still around, milk still gets delivered in bottles and that was my doctor, too, but they don’t put raw egg in the cream soda anymore.  He was floored by it all, especially that his man had been our family doctor till early ’70’s.  I remember asking the doctor, when getting vaccinated for Ireland trip, how old he was.  He was 95 and agreed with me that he was old, smiling.  Anyone remember his name?
