Who was Jonas Bronck?

We can all thank Jonas Bronck for providing the name for our favorite borough.  But who was he and why was he important?  Brian Andersson of the Kingsbridge Historical Society has traveled far and wide to find the answers.  Join us for a special presentation on Jonas Bronck at Edgehill on Thursday October 24th at 7:00 PM.

Brian Andersson is a long-time board member of the Kingsbridge Historical Society, the former Commissioner of New York City’s Department of Records, and a founding director of the Jonas Bronck Center in Savsjo, Sweden.  2024 marks the 385th anniversary of the settlement of The Bronx by Jonas Jonasson Bronck of Sweden.
