Busy day researching Bronx Postcards I found on Ebay. This one was mailed by a Ham Radio operator, acknowledging contacting an other operator via a postcard on January 22, 1949 at 1:10pm . Not many woman had their own call sign, and it is unusual that she included her photo on the postcard. She stated that she got her handle in order to stay in contact with her boyfriend that was tardy on returning her calls. His call was W2CWP ( Bronx ) and according to the 1940 Radio Amateur Callbook, his name is Joseph L. Reiffin. Mrs. Reiffin had her call sign WTU2 since 1932 when she lived at 2910 Valentine Av., Bronx, N. Y, and in 1940 at 165 W. 197 St., N. Y. C then living at
, NY during 1949. She was also spotlighted in the Radio Magazine in 1949. -
