Wow!….Many details, dates and facts to help with research. Time to chase down family trees and see what records they can share.
I love reading a date specific clip about our shared past….including our neighbors in Inwood and Marble Hill.

Peter is correct about the NYC records….Many properties have 1898 or 1900 when the records were moved from Westchester County to the Bronx. However, Westchester County still has their original documents on microfilm and computers. If you trace out a deed in the Bronx, it may refer you to a name who owned the property sold to the Bronx purchaser. Armed with that information, it may lead to other prior owners.
I double checked my files, after re-reading the article….I found a copy of a “Charles Buck ” postcard that I forgot about ” A Reconstructed Old Time Residence of Spuyten Duyvil. New York City ”
Yes….The line opened August 1, 1908…There is a nice color postcard I used in my book “Bronx Views”…a B & W in my book, Northwest Bronx. I think it lasted to 1917

It is always interesting to read various articles about the Hadley House at different time periods. I also love looking at the changing views over the years. Sadly, some images come to us without a date and we have to guess. For all those novices out there, try looking at google street views and then selecting a street view from 2007 or 2013 or 2020 . Even during a short time period, many changes occur.
